Hey, @The_Kid, Happy Fucking Birthday!

Hey, kiddo. I love you. I hope you are having a good birthday. I suspect you are since I’ve hardly seen you since I gave you your present. You do stop by to tell me how awesome it is and how awesome you are at it, so I guess that is a good thing. I hope the rest of your day continues to be awesome.

I wanted the Interwebs to know it’s your birthday since you talked me into letting you hide out at home on your birthday and skip school (I’m the coolest mom, ever). I’m amazed that you made it to 15 years old. There have been times I didn’t think your survival instinct was strong enough to get you to this age. You do like to annoy me and I can smother you in your sleep. But I’m glad to see you have made it this far.

You are a great kid and you have a wonderful, giving heart. If I have one wish for you is that the world doesn’t beat that out of you. It is one of my favorite things about you. One day you will learn English and stop saying things totally bizarre things, I have accepted that, but I hope that you don’t lose your special heart. It’s even the size of a real person (unlike mine) and that makes me so proud.

Everyday you do something that makes me proud to be your mom. Happy birthday, kid. Love you.
