Doctor’s trying to kill me…
I hate it when I look shit up on Drug Interaction Checker. Also, happy that I did. Apparently my frontal sinuses are obstructed after I got smashed in the nose. So this doctor at UrgentCare prescribes me Erithromycin as an antibiotic, which is perfectly fine since I am allergic to Penicillin. Then he prescribes me Nabumetone (Relafen) which is an NSAID. Sounds alright. Until I remember that, hey, wait a fucking minute. I’m not supposed to take NSAIDs because I am on Lexapro.
So I go and check, and of course it has a moderate interaction. What’s the interaction? Bleeding. Internal fucking bleeding. Mainly stomach related. I also drink beer, almost on a daily basis, and that’s not a good thing when combined with NSAIDs either. With these synergistic effects I am definitely in the risk zone for stomach ulcers and other fun stuff.
Doctor knows I drink beer. Doctor knows I take Lexapro. How come he prescribes me a fucking NSAID when any fucking pharmacy intern could have told him that’s a pretty bad idea? Also, he never informed me of the increased risk of bleeding or of the other interactions with Lexapro.
Passing on the NSAID and just taking the antibiotic. Going to give him a call tomorrow and bitch him out for being a retard. My doctor that prescribed me the Lexapro has told me on several occasions to avoid NSAIDs at any cost. I know this, most other people know this, but apparently this knucklehead doesn’t. I suppose I’ll have to educate him.
Mur. I really want these headaches to go away though. Sinuses are killing me.
