I’m a hypocrite

Kinda.

I hate when parents send their kids to school sick.

I hate when I see flush faces and runny noses walking into school just waiting to infect my kid so she can bring it home to all of us.

My daughter is a germ magnet.

If there is an infectious disease within 30 feet of my 8 yr old, she will not only find it, but she will marry it.

Friday, my daughter woke up with a stuffy nose and a fever.

I felt a bit run down, so I figured we were all coming down with something and kept her home. You know, just to be safe.

She seemed fine all weekend. Except for the runny nose.

Until today.

She was coughing.

A wet, nasty snotty cough.

She was sucking back boogies and looking miserable.

So what did i do?

I bundled her up, in the rain and walked her ass to school.

I hate that I’m the queen of double standards, but since she missed Friday and will miss a few days when I have the baby I just wanted to get her there.

I’m going to hell, aren’t I?

You’re hardly going to hell. But you might have to sit in a corner with a Dunce hat on for a few minutes for being scared of germs. You should boost your own immune system so that you can deal with it. Kids pass it around forever, and once it hits a parent like you or me, we get clobbered since our immune defenses are nothing compared to that of an eight year old.

I can’t even recall how many times I got sick when my children would come home from daycare with the latest virus being passed around. It sucked, so I started eating vitamins and doing what I could do boost my own immune system. Surprisingly enough it works.
